Wing Night 2011
Some of the attendees at this year's Wingnight Fundraiser. Hopefully, they were some of the lucky who had seats to the sold out extravaganza. Hardly a "Wingnight", the food at Harry's Steakhouse was plenty including Roast Beef, Mini Burgers, Pasta Bar (shown above), Vegetable Bar, Desserts and even Hot Dogs. The live band "Acquire" filled the room with music. Not only was Mr. Howard spotted posed with fork in hand, new "Super", Steve Marlowe was caught above picking the raffle winners, (along with Mr. Schatt.) More pictures can be found here.
Music Department Spring Awards Banquet
The Annual Independence High School Music Department Spring Awards Banquet will be on Monday, May 9, at 6:00 p.m.
Music department members, parents, and siblings are invited to join us as we celebrate the culmination of another successful year!
As in years past, the meat dishes will be provided by the Music Department and each family is asked to bring a dish to share: Seniors/Juniors-dessert; Sophomore/Freshmen/Flags & Eighth Graders - a side or or salad.
We look forward to seeing you on May 9, 2011 to celebrate our year of musical successes!

Kiwanis Chicken BBQ May 15 -- Volunteers Needed!
The Independence Kiwanis will be holding their 87th Chicken BBQ on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at the Kiwanis Pavilion in Elmwood Park between the hours of 11:30 am and 3:00 pm. Volunteers are needed on Saturday, 5/14 from 8-noon, Sunday 8-noon and noon-4pm. Interested volunteers should email Mr. Kaputsa at kkapusta@roadrunner.com by Wednesday May 11th. Include student name, grade, phone, email and availablility.
Tickets Available
Enjoy a chicken dinner with cole slaw, French fries, roll and butter and dessert. Ticket prices at the door will be $10.00 for adults and $5.00 for children. We will are offering a $1.00 discount for any adult ticket purchased in advance. Contact Edie at 216-524-2312 for tickets. We will see you there!
ACME Fundraiser Results
The most recent collection of ACME grocery receipts this Spring has resulted in proceeds of $118.00. Thank you to all who have taken the time to save receipts.

If you or your kids have any photos from the Disney trip, please email them to Mr. Schatt or Mrs. Campbell to use in a photo presentation.
CVC Honors Band Dinner Helpers

On Sunday, May 22, at 2pm., all are invited to the Independence High School to honor and celebrate David Laurenzi, Sharon Pekarek, Jerry Zelenka and Richard McDermott, who have served our District in a very distinguished manner. Light Refreshments will be served.
